Flourish & the Nordic Landing Project

Flourish Groundbreaking at Nordic Landing

“I believe this will be the catalyst of many great things happening in our community.”

These were the words shared by Springfield City Mayor Ken McClure on March 27, 2023,
during the groundbreaking for Nordic Landing, a housing cornerstone for the Grant
Avenue Parkway project.

This 41-unit apartment development on Catalpa Street just west of Grant
Avenue will provide quality affordable housing to mixed income individuals and families.
Flourish Community Development Corporation will serve as the nonprofit partner
at Nordic Landing. This means providing staff to assist residents in accessing available
community services including resources like Jobs for Life employment training, Faith and
Finance classes, mentorship, and more.

Wayne Thompson, Flourish’s Executive Director, believes this venture will strengthen our
Christ-centered reach here in Springfield. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Flourish
to extend its faith-based approach to help build a dynamic, nurturing and transformative
community,” Wayne shared. “We look forward to meeting the residents of Nordic Landing
and understanding the challenges they face, and learning their hopes, their dreams and
their aspirations. We also look forward to working with the other not-for-profits here in
Springfield that do such great work.”

Flourish was invited to be part of this project led by DHTC Development, LLC and will
work with additional nonprofit service providers including Foster Adopt Connect, I Pour
Life
, and Jordan Valley Community Health, to serve the residents of Nordic Landing.
Construction is expected to take about a year. This project is one of many exciting next
steps for Flourish as it seeks to care for this city from the east side to the west side.

In every aspect, Flourish seeks to transform lives through individual and community impact ministries and programs by coming alongside people and stakeholders in the community, endeavoring to
understand their needs and collaborating with them to achieve their desired transformation.
